Eden Hazard had Bournemouth running scared – Frank Lampard

Eden Hazard is a great Chelsea talent who put fear into the Bournemouth defence – according to Blues legend Frank Lampard.

The Belgian winger provided the decisive moment in the late Premier League kick-off, as his goal handed his side all three points at the Vitality Stadium.

It was Hazard’s first top-flight goal of the season after overcoming a fractured ankle sustain back in June.

And Lampard hailed his display, saying that he’s living up to expectations as one of the senior players in Antonio Conte’s squad.

“From the moment Hazard came to Chelsea his talent was on display, but he’s developed as a player,” Lampard told BT Sport.

“Now he’s at that point in his career when he has to be the dominant player in that Chelsea team and make things happen.

“And he’s doing it. We keep talking about trying to stay with the top teams who are flying and you need your best players to step up.”

Lampard feels it’s vital that Chelsea are not over-reliant on £58m summer signing Alvaro Morata who’s Blues career got off to a flying start.

“Morata missed those chances today so you need to next player to step up and that was Hazard,” he added.

“He’s a great talent. A club like Chelsea can’t be reliant on one player and I don’t want to talk down Pedro and Willian who had fantastic seasons last year.

“But for moments of magic and little clips of skill, the Bournemouth players were very scared of Eden Hazard tonight.”

Chelsea travel to Italy to take on Roma on Tuesday (7.45pm) as they continue their Champions League campaign.
