Chelsea news: Michael Owen and Frank Lampard makes big claim about Eden Hazard

CHELSEA star Eden Hazard has rare attributes shared by only the very best in the world, according to Michael Owen.

Hazard has been in fine form for Chelsea this season since returning from a broken ankle he suffered while on international duty with Belgium.

The forward has scored four in his last four Premier League games and has helped his side to qualification out of Group C of the Champions League.

Owen has been in awe of Hazard’s recent run for Chelsea and is particularly impressed with his pace on the ball.

“He’s brilliant, he’s just got attributes that very few players have got,” the ex-Liverpool striker told BT Sport.

“He’s so short, with a low-centre of gravity. He can just stop a player and just a turn of pace gets him past them.

“He can go from no speed to full speed within a couple of strides. He’s got such a good touch, he’s got so much going for him.

“He’s a brilliant, brilliant player. He can use both feet, he makes runs.”

Owen’s colleague and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard admits he is enjoying seeing Hazard play in a more central role alongside summer-signing Alvaro Morata.

“That’s what I love, you see there now, when he plays the ball he wants to get into that open space and get in behind,” Lampard said of Eden Hazard.

“This is something, if you’d want to criticise him before, it would be that he can beat people, maybe beat them two or three times, but is he getting in that critical position to score goals and create goals?

“Now we’re seeing him more central, in the box, running in behind the defenders, and he shows not only can he be the creative force, but he can score goals.

“He’s been fantastic, in great form at the moment.”
