CHELSEA NEWS LIVE: Transfer latest as Antonio Conte seeks a striker

Sunday January 21

Emerson Palmieri agrees deal

14:40: Emerson Palmieri’s move to Chelsea has been agreed, according to reports in Italy.

Roma pair Palmieri and Edin Dzeko are both subject to interest from Chelsea.

Calciomercato claim Palmieri’s move has been agreed upon – but the Blues must now convince Roma to let go of Dzeko.

Chelsea are said to be willing to offer just £26.4m for Dzeko, which is £9m short of Roma’s lowest valuation.

Chelsea want Ashley Barnes

14:00: Chelsea have emerged as suitors for Burnley striker Ashley Barnes.

Chelsea are desperate to sign a new forward in this transfer window.

They have already been linked with moves for Peter Crouch, Andy Carroll and Edin Dzeko.

And now Sky Sports claim a swoop for Barnes is on the cards.

Chelsea told price

12:00: Chelsea have been told to stump up £53m to sign Emerson Palmieri and Edin Dzeko from Roma.

The Rome club are said to have contacted the Blues to outline their price.

Antonio Conte wants to strengthen the left-back and striker positions at Chelsea.

And Palmieri, 23, and ex-Manchester City forward Dzeko are his top targets.

Diego Costa injured

11:45: Chelsea may have got lucky with selling Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid.

The Blues offloaded Costa on the Spanish side this month.

Costa has since scored on his debut, been sent off, provided three assists and has now suffered a hamstring injury.

And it appears as though Chelsea may have got a good deal out of the move after all.
