The 22-year-old French star who can finally replace Frank Lampard at Chelsea

Loading...

Chelsea have been busying away this season and going along quite nicely, and in any other campaign would be well in the mix to retain their Premier League title.

The form of Man City though has put paid to their chances of doing that, and manager Antonio Conte will surely now be focussing on what he can do in the January and summer windows to improve his Blues squad and close the gap between themselves and Pep Guardiola’s men.

We here think the Blues need a few world class additions to the ranks, and he’s been looking back at their squads from the last decade and realised that the club have simply never replaced record goalscorer Frank Lampard.

The former England midfielder was an absolute gem for the Blues, scoring bundles of goals, but our landlord thinks that French midfielder Thomas Lemar could go on to replicate Lampard if Chelsea splash the cash and sign him up.

The midfielder is a powerhouse with a great touch, capable of slotting in across all the attacking midfield positions to devastating effect.

Despite only notching two goals this season, his form last term prompted Arsenal to lodge a bid of over £70m for the France midfielder, and Chelsea should be looking to follow suit if they are serious about contending with City at the top of the pile.

At 22, Lemar has years and time on his side, and he could well become a Chelsea great should Conte add him to the ranks over the next six months.
