Abramovich eyes Conte replacement who has a £7m release clause

Maurizio Sarri is said to be the leading candidate to replace Antonio Conte this summer.

Football Italia, who cite La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Roman Abramovich likes Sarri’s style of football and wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Sarri has a £7 million release clause in his current contract at Napoli, who sit top of the Serie A table.

Just one point ahead of Juventus, Napoli have impressed many this season as they aim to win their first Scudetto since 1990.

Sarri’s Napoli have come in for huge praise from Pep Guardiola previously this season after the two sides met in the Champions League.

The Manchester City boss hailed Napoli as one of the best footballing sides in Europe.

Conte remains assured that he will see out his contract at Stamford Bridge.

However, continuous fractions between himself and the board, not to mention a poor run of form of late, has left an air of expectation that the 48-year-old will not be in charge next season.
